Outstanding Achievement/Distinguished Graduate

Dr. Joseph Rossi is a 1992 co-valedictorian  graduate of Olympia High School. While attending Olympia, Joe  was involved in various activities. He was president of the NHS, student of the year in science, math, social studies, and spanish.  He was also involved and very successful in swimming. Joe was a 4 time state qualifier, 4 time OHS MVP, All State Honorable Mention and set school records as an individual and in relay  in multiple events that are still held today : (200 MED. RE, 200 FREE, 200 I.M, 50 FREE, 100 FLY, 100 FREE, 500 FREE, 200 FREE RE., 100 BACK, 400 FREE RE. ) . After High school, Joe qualified for and swam the 50 freestyle at Junior Nationals. He then  attended the University of Illinois from 1992-1996  where he was a varsity letter winner in swimming.  At the University of Illinois he majored in Biology and minored in Biochemistry. In 1996 after graduating from the University of Illinois with Honors and Distinction. He then moved on to the University of Illinois-Chicago College of Medicine  from 1997-2001. There he graduated with honors and his doctor of medicine degree.  Finally he attended  Northwestern University to do his residency and obtain his Master of Science in Clinical Investigation and Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Joseph Rossi is now a Professor of Medicine and Interventional Cardiologist, and Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab  at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
