Heather Craven, a 1996 graduate of Unity High School, earned eight varsity letters in basketball and volleyball.

During her basketball career, she scored over 1200 points, earned multiple 1st team All-Conference awards, was named to the All-Area 1st team, and received Unity’s first National Girls & Women in Sports Day award. Craven was a member of the school’s first-ever Elite 8 team, led her team to an Illini Central Conference Championship, a Sectional Championship appearance her senior year, and an overall record of 80-30. She broke the school’s career 3-point record as a sophomore and is the only Unity athlete to score the 99th, 100th, and 101st points in a game.

During Craven’s volleyball career, she won four regional titles, four conference championships, multiple All-Conference awards, 2nd team All-Area her senior year, and Athlete of the Week. Unity finished its season undefeated in conference her senior season and earned Coach Liz Osborn her 500th career win.

Craven went on to play basketball at DACC on an athletic scholarship. Upon graduation, she began her coaching career at UJHS and continued coaching for the next 20 years at multiple schools and with her travel team, Torment.
