Scott Hamilton joined Unity in 1994. He worked as a Math/Pe teacher and Administrator at the Junior High and High School. He was the head football coach from 1994 to 2025 and athletic director from 1998 to his retirement in 2025.

As head football coach, he compiled a record of 291-74. He led the Rockets to 30 playoff appearances, 13 semifinals, and 6 state runner-ups. His teams put together a 43-game regular-season winning streak (1996-1999). He was the National Coach of the Year Runner-Up in 2014, nominated by the IHSA as Coach of the Year in 2016, and inducted into the IHSFCA in 2017.

As athletic director, he watched great players and coaches bring home 47 state trophies to the school and community. In 2019, he was selected as IADA Athletic Director of the Year. He assisted the school and UAAA in building some of the best facilities in the state - the Rocket Center, Softball Field, Turf Project on baseball, softball, soccer, and football, and completion of the wrestling practice facility.
