Roger Collins
Roger Collins is an experienced high school cross country and track & field coach with nearly two decades of coaching experience in North Carolina. He currently serves as co-head coach at Green Level High School, where he helped establish the school’s athletic program in 2019 and has guided the girls cross country team to conference championships and state championship appearances. Throughout his career, Coach Collins has focused on developing strong team cultures, helping athletes improve at every level, and building competitive distance programs grounded in consistency and long-term growth.
Previously, Coach Collins led the powerhouse programs at Green Hope High School from 2005–2017, coaching six consecutive NCHSAA 4A girls cross country state championship teams from 2009–2014 and the 2010 boys state championship team. His 2010 and 2014 girls squads qualified for Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, OR, with the 2010 team placing 10th. Over his career, Coach Collins has coached multiple state champions, All-State athletes, NXN qualifiers, and collegiate standouts who continued their careers at programs including North Carolina State University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Appalachian State University, and University of Mississippi.
Coach Collins has also attended nationally respected programs such as the Boulder Running Clinic and the American Distance Summit, and was a presenter at the Pacers DCXC Clinic at the University of Maryland. He is known for developing both elite performers and strong team cultures, Coach Collins has earned Conference Coach of the Year honors several times and has directed numerous major championship and invitational meets in North Carolina.
Coach Collins lives in Chapel Hill with his wife Melissa and children Naomi and Quinn. Away from coaching, he teaches Food and Nutrition in the CTE program at Green Level. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with his family.
