Born and raised in Southampton, PA, Coach Laura Whitney is kicking off her 10th season as the Head Girls Basketball Coach, and her second year as a full time member of the teaching staff.  After 15 years teaching Health and Physical Education in the School District of Philadelphia, she joined the Panther family in April 2024.

A 2001 graduate of Archbishop Wood High School, Whitney was a four-year starter and a force on both ends of the floor. Her senior season was a standout: she led the team in scoring (15.9 ppg), steals (72), and assists (52), earned First Team All-Bucks and Montgomery County honors, picked up two All-Philadelphia Catholic League selections along the way, and capped it all off as Co-MVP. She wrapped up her high school career just shy of 1,000 points before heading to Marist College on a full Division I basketball scholarship.

At Marist, she continued to make her mark, recording career highs including 26 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 6 steals, and helping lead the Red Foxes to their first MAAC Tournament Championship and first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history.

Coach Whitney earned her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Marist in 2005, completed her Health and Physical Education certification at Temple University in 2009, and added a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Delaware Valley University in 2013. Never one to sit still, she became a certified personal trainer in 2023.

Off the court, Coach Whitney brings the same enthusiasm to everyday life. She loves staying active, spending time with family, traveling anywhere and everywhere, reading, gardening, and cheering loudly for all the Philly sports teams.
