Environmental Club
Our main activities are Envirothon and Trout in the Classroom.
Envirothon is an academic competition where teams of five high school students compete in field testing using their knowledge in five topic areas - Soil and Land Use, Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Wildlife, and Environmental Issues. A current environmental issue is chosen each year as the "hot topic" for the focus of this station. William Tennent has competed at the county level for more than 20 years. Each year we prepare teams for our big day in April.
Trout in the Classroom is a chance for students to raise rainbow trout from eyed eggs to fingerlings. The eggs arrive in January and we release the fish in May. As they grow, we learn about their habitat and how to care for them.
