Dr. Mary Wilby - Class of 1975
Career Highlights
After twenty years in full time clinical practice in Nursing, I made the transition to academia. I continue to enjoy part time clinical practice. While this is very rewarding, the opportunity to play a role in preparing hundreds of nurses and advanced practice nurses for careers caring for some of our most vulnerable citizens has been my greatest honor and a privilege. I have had the opportunity to travel throughout the world and I have been recognized by my colleagues for many of my accomplishments but my greatest reward has been to see my students succeed and advance in their careers. Working alongside students and colleagues in Haiti and Guatemala, in homeless shelters and prisons, hospitals and hospices, I’ve come to appreciate the innate dignity of every person. I hope that my work has provided an example for them of what can be accomplished with hard work, passion, and a commitment to the welfare of others.
