David Armendariz is the newest head baseball coach for the Trailblazers, taking the program’s helm in 2026 after the retirement of legendary head coach

Tom Meusborn. In his first three seasons as assistant baseball coach at Sierra Canyon, Armendariz helped the Trailblazers become perennial title contenders in the Mission League and one of the best high school programs in California. Most recently, the team finished 24-7 overall and 13-3 in league, entering the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 playoffs ranked third in one of the toughest brackets in the country.

Since arriving at Sierra Canyon in 2023, Armendariz has demonstrated his exceptional coaching and player development experience. He spent three impactful years in Major League Baseball with the Cleveland Guardians, and he was an assistant coach and hitting coordinator at Harvard-Westlake for six years. Additionally, Armendariz coached 13U and 14U teams at Pacific Baseball Academy for seven years and led Legacy Baseball Group’s 13U team for a year.

Armendariz wears many hats at Sierra Canyon, as Athletic Director for the school’s athletic department and the head of Nike baseball camps held during the summer at M.J. Siegel Field. In each of his roles, Armendariz imparts his knowledge and passion for the game to the next generation of athletes, nurturing their talent both on and off the field. With his multi-faceted experience and dedication, he remains a driving force in the baseball community.
