Leading the Trailblazers on the pitch with world‑class experience and championship‑caliber leadership is Head Coach Zat Knight, a former international professional soccer player turned high school coach.

Before turning to coaching, Knight enjoyed a distinguished 16‑year professional
career as a central defender in some of the world’s toughest leagues. Born in
Solihull, England, Knight starred in the Premier League, the highest level of the English football league system, and represented his country in international play. Knight also played with the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer and Reading Football Club in the English Championship before his retirement as a player.

Since joining Sierra Canyon, Knight has brought that elite experience, discipline, and tactical insight to the boys’ soccer program, guiding the Trailblazers through the Mission League and CIF Southern Section competition. He emphasizes strong defense, intelligent play, and a team‑first mentality that reflects his professional pedigree. 

Highlights and Achievements (as of 2025-26 season)

• Played more than 370 club matches including with prestigious clubs such as Fulham, Aston Villa, and Bolton Wanderers, where he served as captain

• Made 150+ appearances for Fulham, where he helped the club secure promotion

• Earned two international caps for the England national team in 2005
