Amarr Lumpkins’ drive to be the best—both in the classroom and on the mat—was the foundation of his success as a student-athlete at RJ Reynolds. His commitment to excellence extended beyond personal achievement, as he consistently pushed himself to improve while setting a standard for those around him.

Amarr was widely respected not only for his performance, but for his character. His kindness, positive attitude, and genuine leadership made him someone others were naturally drawn to. He had a unique ability to elevate his teammates, creating an environment where those around him are motivated to work harder and be better.

On the mat, Amarr’s accomplishments spoke for themselves. He earned All-Conference honors in both 2023 and 2024, along with All-Region recognition. In 2023, he was named the Central Piedmont Conference Athlete of the Year for wrestling—an honor that reflects both his individual excellence and his impact on the sport.

Amarr’s combination of discipline, leadership, and character has made a lasting impact on RJ Reynolds Athletics and serves as a model for future student-athletes.
