Paul had a great passion for wrestling and a very distinguished wrestling career at Columbia High School, where he won numerous matches and championships. During his Junior year, Paul was the State Runner-Up in his weight class. His Senior year, Paul achieved his goal and won the Class AA State Championship in the 132 lb. weight class. Paul was the first athlete at Columbia High School to win a State Championship in any sport and helped pave the way for the Columbia wrestling program. Paul was given the opportunity to qualify for the 1980 Olympic Wrestling Team. In 1999, he was inducted into the Lorain County Wrestling Hall of Fame. Paul passed away August 13, 2012.
