Dave was a multi-sport student athlete at CHS, participating in football, basketball, and track. During his junior and senior year track seasons, he qualified for the State Championship finals. As a Senior, he ran the anchor leg on the 800m relay team which placed 2nd at the State Championships. On the same day, Dave competed in the 200m dash, finishing 5th in the State Championships. His CHS track record in the 200m dash still stands today and his 100m dash record has been tied by two others, but not broken. After college, Dave returned to Columbia High School for 19 years, teaching math, physical education, and health, as well as coaching football, basketball, track, and baseball various times. He also worked as the Athletic Director. Dave finished his career in Administration, serving as Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent in the Brooklyn and Buckeye School Districts. In retirement, he and his wife enjoy traveling and spend the winter months in Florida.
