Britt Morton
Britt Morton serves as the Head Wrestling Coach at Apex High School, bringing nearly three decades of coaching experience and deep roots in the Apex community to the Cougar program. An Apex native, Coach Morton wrestled and played football at Apex High School before continuing his football career at Methodist College. He holds a bachelor’s degree and certifications in physical education, personal training, and CPR. Over a 28-year coaching career, he has coached at nine different high schools across North Carolina and Georgia, working in a wide range of school environments and communities.
Coach Morton’s philosophy is built on discipline, hard work, and total commitment to the program. He believes no individual—coach or athlete—is more important than the school or the wrestling program, embracing an “All In” mindset at every level. Attention to detail, consistency, and fairness define his leadership style, and he is not afraid to make difficult decisions when necessary for the good of the program. His approach emphasizes accountability, doing the little things right, and standing by decisions to maintain standards and integrity.
Under Coach Morton’s leadership, the Apex wrestling program has achieved historic success, including the 2024 Girls Wrestling Conference Championship in the program’s first season and the 2026 Boys Wrestling Conference Championship. What Coach Morton values most is coaching at Apex High School alongside an outstanding group of administrators, assistant athletic directors, and fellow coaches across all sports, all of whom continually challenge him to grow. He is equally proud of the student-athletes he has the honor of coaching each day. Outside of athletics, Coach Morton enjoys working out and fishing.
