Mike Dixon

Mike Dixon serves as the Head Coach of the Apex High School Women’s Soccer program, bringing more than 20 years of coaching experience and a deep commitment to athlete development. Originally from Salem, Virginia, Coach Dixon played multiple sports growing up, including football and basketball, serving as a team captain and competing at a high level before attending NC State University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from NC State and maintains multiple U.S. Soccer coaching licenses, including his C License, along with CPR certification.

Coach Dixon’s coaching philosophy is built on relationships, trust, and understanding the individual behind the athlete. He believes every player brings a unique story and that effective coaching starts with recognizing those differences and supporting athletes both on and off the field. His approach emphasizes real-life lessons such as hard work, determination, teamwork, and resilience, while fostering a culture built on clear standards and trust in the process. Known for his honesty and genuine care, Coach Dixon works to create an environment where players feel supported, challenged, and confident in their ability to grow.

Prior to joining Apex, Coach Dixon spent 15 years as a women’s club director and older girls director in club soccer, overseeing coaching development, program growth, and college recruitment, while also coaching elite summer programs at the WPSL level. His teams achieved extensive competitive success, including multiple division titles, deep state playoff runs, and over 40 players earning college opportunities in recent years. What Coach Dixon values most is seeing players grow into confident young women and maintaining lifelong relationships with those he has coached. He appreciates the strong sense of community among the Apex coaching staff and the support across all sports. Outside of soccer, Coach Dixon enjoys golfing, traveling with his wife, attending church, watching his daughters compete in college soccer, and following Tottenham Hotspur. He is also the owner of an advertising agency, working with prominent collegiate and professional sports organizations.
