Abigail Springer
Abigail Springer serves as the Varsity Head Coach for the Apex High School Swim & Dive program, bringing a passion for competitive swimming and a student-centered approach to the Cougars. Originally from Garner, North Carolina, Coach Springer has a background in year-round competitive swimming and credits her middle school swim coach with helping her discover a lifelong love for the sport. She holds a Master’s degree in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science in Inclusive Education from Western Carolina University, along with multiple teaching licensures in exceptional children and elementary education.
Coach Springer’s coaching philosophy is rooted in leading by example and modeling strong sportsmanship. She believes athletics provide a powerful opportunity to teach discipline, perseverance, and respect while helping athletes grow in confidence and character. Her approach emphasizes creating a positive and supportive environment where student-athletes are encouraged to work hard, support one another, and take pride in representing their team.
Before joining Apex, Coach Springer taught inclusive special education at East Garner Magnet Middle School, an experience that continues to shape her ability to connect with and support a wide range of learners. What she enjoys most about coaching is working with students as they pursue something they are passionate about and watching them grow through that process. Outside of swimming, Coach Springer enjoys reading, baking and cooking, puzzles, and crocheting. A fun fact—she lived in South Korea for six years.
