Linda Haswell serves as the Varsity Gymnastics Coach at Apex High School, bringing more than 25 years of competitive coaching experience and nearly a decade of leadership within the Apex program. Originally from Parma, Ohio, Coach Haswell was a multi-sport athlete, participating in gymnastics, cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, softball, and tennis. She maintains CPR, First Aid, and SafeSport certifications and continues ongoing professional development through USA Gymnastics. In addition to her role at Apex, she has coached gymnastics clubs across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Ohio and has served as the head coach of a competitive program at Team Attraction Gymnastics for over 11 years.

Coach Haswell’s coaching philosophy centers on effort, belief, and individual growth. She trains each athlete to be the best version of themselves, emphasizing hard work, confidence, and pride in effort over comparison or outcome. She believes success comes when athletes trust their training, stay passionate about the sport they love, and understand that their worth is defined not by scores or titles, but by how they prepare, compete, and treat their teammates. Creating an environment that is challenging, supportive, and uplifting is at the heart of her leadership.

Under Coach Haswell’s guidance, the Apex gymnastics program has achieved sustained success, including conference championships, state championships, multiple Coach of the Year honors, and numerous individual state champions and Gymnasts of the Year. Several Apex gymnasts have gone on to compete at the Division I collegiate level, and the program has produced multiple perfect 10 performances. Coach Haswell is most proud of the strong bond built within the Apex gymnastics teams and their role in growing the sport’s visibility and respect. Outside of coaching, she enjoys spending time with her children and granddaughter, shooting hoops with her son, playing tennis and ping pong, and cheering on the Carolina Hurricanes. A fun fact—Coach Haswell is a twin.
