Megan Amend

Megan Amend serves as the Junior Varsity Head Cheerleading Coach at Apex High School, bringing energy, relatability, and a strong competitive background to the Cougar program. Originally from Wake Forest, North Carolina, Coach Amend competed in varsity cheerleading, competitive cheer, varsity STUNT, and varsity track as a pole vaulter, earning NC All-State recognition in cheerleading. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Agricultural Education from NC State University and North Carolina A&T State University and maintains CPR/First Aid, Fundamentals of Coaching, and concussion-in-sports certifications.

Coach Amend was inspired to coach by her love for high school cheerleading and her desire to share that passion with student-athletes. Her philosophy centers on putting the individual before the athlete, creating a positive and supportive environment where athletes feel valued, confident, and motivated. She believes when athletes enjoy the sport and feel supported, strong performance and team culture naturally follow. As a younger coach, she brings a fresh perspective, strong energy, and an ability to connect with athletes through open communication while still holding them to high expectations.

What Coach Amend enjoys most about coaching at Apex is being part of a collaborative and supportive cheer staff, working closely with the varsity and STUNT programs to build continuity and unity across levels. She values the support of the athletic department and the strong sense of teamwork within the program. Outside of coaching, Coach Amend enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with friends, and being active in her church. A fun fact—she has traveled to more than 25 countries.
