Jeff Cropper
Jeffrey Cropper serves as the Varsity Head Coach of the Apex High School Girls Basketball program, bringing more than 30 years of involvement in athletics and 15 years of coaching experience to the Cougars. Originally from Queens, New York, Coach Cropper grew up playing baseball, basketball, and football, experiences that shaped his competitive mindset and appreciation for team sports. He holds an associate degree from Mohawk Valley Community College and maintains CPR/First Aid, CDL, and OSHA certifications. His background also includes service in the United States Army, which continues to influence his leadership style.
Coach Cropper’s coaching philosophy is rooted in servant leadership, accountability, and athlete development. He believes in building strong relationships while holding athletes to consistent, high standards for effort, behavior, and commitment. His approach focuses on developing the complete athlete—emphasizing fundamentals, basketball IQ, decision-making, confidence, resilience, and preparation. Coach Cropper places a strong emphasis on team culture, teaching athletes that roles matter, communication matters, and representing the Apex community with pride matters. He believes when culture is strong, performance and consistency naturally follow.
Coach Cropper has coached at multiple levels, including roles at Apex High School, AAU programs, Nike EYBL, and elite girls basketball programs, and was part of the 2014 NCHSAA Boys 4A State Championship staff at Apex. What he enjoys most about coaching at Apex is the family environment and the relationships built within the program and school community. Outside of basketball, Coach Cropper enjoys spending time with family, fishing, and taking cruises with his wife. His favorite role off the court is being a grandfather, a title he proudly embraces.
