Jason Blalock

Jason Blalock serves as a Junior Varsity Coach for the Apex High School Football and Softball programs, bringing extensive collegiate coaching experience and a detail-driven approach to the Cougars. Originally from Hillsborough, North Carolina, Coach Blalock competed in football, basketball, and baseball growing up. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Mathematics from Appalachian State University and maintains CPR certification.

Coach Blalock is motivated by a desire to help young athletes grow as both people and players. His coaching philosophy emphasizes effort, accountability, and team-first mentality—creating an environment where athletes push themselves because they do not want to let their teammates down. He believes culture should be fun and positive while still demanding maximum effort, with success built through consistent attention to the smallest details. Coach Blalock is known for identifying and correcting those details, believing they are what separate good teams from great ones.

Coach Blalock brings a strong collegiate background, having coached defensive linemen at Appalachian State University, defensive ends and linebackers at North Carolina Central University, and defensive linemen at Newberry College. His teams captured two national championships at Appalachian State and won conference championships nine times during his college coaching career. What he values most is time spent with his family, especially being around his kids. Outside of coaching, he enjoys playing adult softball, hiking, and spending time outdoors with his children. A fun fact—Coach Blalock loves the North Carolina State Fair.
