2023 Class 3A State Champions

How do you follow up an undefeated season and the first title in school history? How about running it back and doing it again???  That's exactly what the 2023 Lady Chargers were able to accomplish, as they posted an identical 14-0 record and another State Championship.  After taking care of their first two opponents at home, the Chargers had to travel to Locust Grove for their semifinal matchup against Locust Grove, which they won 3-1 to advance to the championship game in Newcastle.  In a tight 0-0 game, Katerina Chrysant '24 was awarded a direct free kick, very similar to the one that she scored on in the state finals the year previous.  Though she did not get the goal this time, the Chargers were awarded a PK from a handball, which Olivia Walker '23 confidently placed in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.  Later in the second half, Yohanna Bell '25 made a phenomenal run from the right side of the pitch to the left, and beat the goalkeeper with a beautiful touch shot to the backside of the net, giving the Chargers a 2-0 lead.  Throw in some timely saves from GK Avery McKirahan '24, and the Chargers were champions once again!
