1978 Class 2A Team Champions

The first of 12 State Championships for Coach Dick Villaflor on the boys' side, 1978 was the one that started it all. Not only did it begin a four-year run of State Championships, but it was the first step in the state's greatest tennis dynasty across both the boys' and girls' sides. Two talented sophomores (Joe Braver '80 and David Mantor '80) led the way with individual state titles, and the Chargers were off and running toward making the state know who would own the court for the next four-to-five decades.
