2022 TEAM
2022 Class 5A State Champions
After advancing all of their teams to the semi-final round, the Chargers and Cascia Hall were the two teams with a realistic chance to walk away from the Oklahoma City Tennis Center with a State Championship trophy in tow. Two semi-final matches pitted The Hall head-to-head against Cascia, and they were split, with HH's #2 Singles (Larsen Van Horn '23) moving to the finals, while HH's #1 Doubles (Emerson Ritenour '24 and Owen Felrath '25) fell into the third-place match. In #1 Singles, Harry Zeiders '22 moved onto the championship match, as did the #2 Doubles duo of Gray Ferguson '24 and McLoud Buergler '25, and that is where things got interesting. With about an hour-and-a-half left in the day, HH found themselves in a tough spot, with its #2 Doubles team having to withdraw due to injury, giving Cascia its first title of the day, and #1 Singles Harry Zeiders '22 had just been defeated 2-6 in the first set and was down 1-4 in the second. Meanwhile, hope was barely alive as the #2 Singles championship match was being dominated by Larsen Van Horn '23, one in which he would capture the State Championship with a 6-2, 6-1 win, keeping the Chargers within striking distance if Zeiders could pull off a miracle, and that is just what happened. Zeiders turned the match around, winning 11 straight games to bring home the #1 Singles State Championship with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory. As Zeiders' match was ending, attention turned to #1 Doubles and their third-place match, as well as Casica's #2 Singles player in a third-place match. Heritage would go on to capture third-place in #1 Doubles and would watch as Altus defeated Cascia Hall's #2 Singles to help bring the 22nd State Title home to The One True Hall.
