Marco Tomaso

Marco received his BS in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland in 1966 and shortly thereafter began what would become a 34 year career teaching and coaching in South Colonie.   At times, Marco coached football, track and golf but his main focus was wrestling and lacrosse.  Marco coached many different levels of wrestling over the years including 20 years as head varsity coach. He was inducted into the Colonie Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2014.   A college and club lacrosse player himself, Marco started an intramural lacrosse program in 1980.  In 1981, he was instrumental in founding Section 2 lacrosse along with 4 other Suburban Council schools. Marco served as head varsity lacrosse coach for 20 years, winning a section championship in 1988.   In addition to teaching and coaching, Marco was also high school physical education coordinator and faculty manager of athletics.   After retiring from Colonie in 2000, Marco began a 22 year career as a lacrosse referee.  He became a respected official and was chosen to work sectional and state regional championships. In addition, he taught classes for new officials for 10 years. For all his accomplishments, he was inducted into the Empire North Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2019.
