Noel Garcia

Noel Garcia serves as the Junior Varsity Head Coach and Defensive Assistant for the Apex High School Football program, bringing energy, relatability, and a strong defensive background to the Cougars. Originally from Queens, New York, Coach Garcia played safety at Green Hope High School before continuing his football career at Shaw University. He also competed in baseball and ultimate frisbee during high school. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies with a focus on Secondary Mathematics Education from Western Governors University and maintains CPR/First Aid and NFHS coaching certifications.

Coach Garcia’s passion for coaching began during the COVID shutdowns, when he organized offseason training for teammates and taught strength and conditioning techniques while traditional coaching access was limited. That experience helped shape his leadership style and reinforced his desire to serve others. His coaching philosophy is grounded in helping players reach their God-given potential through attention to detail, relentless effort, and mental composure in high-pressure moments. He believes preparation creates confidence and peace of mind on the field.

Coach Garcia began his coaching career at Green Hope High School as a defensive, offensive, and special teams assistant before serving as the defensive backs coach at Cleveland High School in Johnston County. He later joined Apex as a defensive assistant coaching outside linebackers and safeties. His teams have experienced undefeated JV seasons and deep playoff runs, including a third-round playoff victory in 2024. Coach Garcia values the Apex coaching staff and the opportunity to help rebuild the program’s standard and identity. Outside of football, he attends Mass weekly at St. Michael’s, enjoys lifting, playing pickleball, and listening to sports podcasts. A fun fact—he has yet to defeat Apex Friendship in varsity football as a player or coach, a challenge that continues to motivate him.
