Miles Kliewer

Miles Kliewer, MAEd, LAT, ATC, serves as the Head Athletic Trainer at Apex High School, overseeing the health and safety of all Cougar student-athletes. Originally from Richlands, North Carolina, Coach Kliewer played varsity football for four years in high school and continued his football career at the collegiate level. He earned a Master of Arts in Education from East Carolina University and is a nationally certified and North Carolina licensed athletic trainer, as well as an American Red Cross Instructor.

Coach Kliewer was inspired to pursue athletic training by the influence of one of his high school coaches and a desire to support athletes beyond competition. His professional philosophy centers on teamwork, communication, and adaptability—believing that strong relationships and clear communication are essential to keeping athletes healthy and performing at their best. Known as a strong and trusted communicator, he works closely with coaches, administrators, athletes, and families to ensure comprehensive care across all sports.

Apex High School has been Coach Kliewer’s one and only professional home since graduating college, a testament to his commitment to the Cougar community. He has been part of every state championship team at Apex since 1995 and has received numerous honors, including North Carolina High School Athletic Trainer of the Year and induction into the Apex High School Athletics Hall of Fame. He has also served in leadership roles with the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas for more than a decade. What he values most is watching student-athletes work hard and accomplish their goals. Outside of school, Coach Kliewer enjoys woodworking and being a proud father of three. A fun fact—he played in more varsity football games at his high school than any other athlete in school history.
