2023 1992 Basketball Athlete

Robert “Robbie” Hutt Sr., a Rye Neck High School Class of 1992 graduate, was a force to be reckoned with on the hardwood, and the whole county knew it.  Standing at 6’ 3”, Robbie posed a threat to any opposing defense that stepped on the court with him. During his playing career with the Rye Neck Panthers, Hutt scored 1,250 career points and secured over 900 rebounds during his four years on the Varsity Basketball Team. Hutt is a member of the exclusive 1,000 point scorers’ club and currently ranks as the second all-time scorer at Rye Neck High School. Robbie was a member of several very successful teams during his Rye Neck career. During the 1991 season, Robbie helped lead the Panthers to a 16-4 season. In that same season, Robbie had a three game span where he scored 82 points and in one of those games against North Salem he scored 36 points and secured 23 rebounds in a single game, both career highs. During his senior year in 1992, Robbie was named Captain of the Rye Neck Panthers Varsity Basketball Team. 

During his time on the Varsity squad, Robbie was named All-League for three years in a row from 1990-1992 and All-County two years in a row in 1991 and 1992. During his junior and senior campaigns, Robbie was selected 1st Team All-County. In addition, during the 1991 season, Robbie was included in a highly regarded group, the County Coaches Association All-Star List, which is chosen by the county coaches association. 

Hutt went on to study Accounting at SUNY Morrisville and Mercy College after his career at Rye Neck and still lives in the Rye Neck community with his family today. Robbie played an integral role in Rye Neck’s basketball program while he was a student here and helped the school get significant media coverage and recognition for the amazing feats he accomplished on the hardwood as a Panther. Rightfully so, Hutt has solidified his spot in the Rye Neck Panther’s Hall of Fame for his contributions to the basketball program and community.
