Tara Finelli, a Class of 1995 graduate, was well known within the Rye Neck community for her softball talents. Not only did she often lead her team in many statistical categories, but she also broke many school records while doing so. Finelli was a two time team leader in home runs and runs batted in during the 1994 and 1995 seasons. During the 1995 season, she led Rye Neck in batting average with an average of .543. During the 1995 season, her senior campaign, Finelli broke the school record for RBIs within a single game when she batted in 13 runs during a single game that season. This record is still held by Finelli to this day. Finelli also still holds the school record for career slugging percentage with a 1.100% SLG percentage. Records that Finelli set that have since been broken include career RBIs, 118 and career hits, 95.

Accolades earned by Finelli for her efforts on the softball field include being named three-time All-League, All-Section in 1995, and elected to the Gannett Newspaper First Team in 1995. She was named Team Captain for the ‘94 and ‘95 seasons. Finelli was a two-time Team MVP and earned herself the Rye Neck Outstanding Female Athlete Award in 1995.
