Bryan Costa, a member of the graduating Class of 1996, played both sides of the ball for the Rye Neck Panthers Football Team during his time at Rye Neck High School. Not only was Costa a standout running back on offense, but he was also a defensive specialist who dominated the field. As a Panther, Costa rushed for 2,343 yards during his career with 1,248 of them produced in a single season. His dominant rushing abilities allowed him to score a whopping 21 career touchdowns for the Panthers. During his career, Costa averaged 111.6 yards per game in 21 games played. For his marvelous performances on the field, Costa finished his career with a collection of prestigious awards and titles bestowed on him. Costa is a three time All-League player, was All-County in 1994, named Best Back in League D-South in 1994, Team MVP in 1994, Defensive Player of the Year, and won the Black Hat Award in 1995. Other honorable mentions Costa received are the NFL Golden Dozen Award and the Gannett All-Section Award, both in 1995.
