Mr. Trumpeter is a 1969 graduate of Hoover High School where he was a 3-sport athlete. Trumpeter earned 3 letters in both Wrestling and Baseball, but his greatest success was on the football field. Bill started on the offensive line as a sophomore and continued to be a key part of the offensive line for the remainder of his career recording 30 consecutive starts. He also played defensive line and linebacker, kicked off and played on all special teams. In 1967 Trumpeter was named to the Repository’s Independent Grid Iron All-Star team and his senior year he was named Best Offensive Linemen. Bill was a co-captain and Most Valuable Player of the football team in 1968 which won the Federal League Championship. He was also recognized with All-County, All-District and Honorable Mention All-State awards. Trumpeter continued his education at Wittenberg University where he lettered as a freshman on the 1969 College Division National Championship team. Following Wittenberg, Bill earned a law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law and practiced in Ohio and Tennessee until his retirement
