2023 2002 Basketball

Abbey (Moore) Allerding is a Hoover High School Class of 2002 graduate.  During her high school career, she played basketball, where she helped lead her basketball team to three Federal League Championships and a District, Regional and State Championship in 2002 as co-captain and senior.  She was also named Federal League and Stark County Player of the Year in 2002, as well as being named 2nd Team All-State.  Allerding went on to earn a full-ride to Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she played basketball before ending up at Malone University in Canton, Ohio.  There, Allerding played basketball and ultimately became the Graduate Assistant Coach for two years as an undergraduate.  In 2007, Allerding graduated from Malone summa cum laude with a degree in Integrated Language Arts and a minor in Mathematics.  Following graduation, Allerding taught for three years in the Mount Vernon City School District, while earning a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Ashland University.  In 2010, Allerding was selected as the head basketball coach at Perry High School.  She both coached basketball and taught high school English while at Perry before returning to North Canton as the head girls basketball coach.  In her nine years as head coach of the Lady Vikings, Allerding helped lead the team to two Federal League titles, three District Championships in 2013, 2014, and 2017, as well as a Regional Final appearance in 2013, Regional Championship in 2014, a State Runner-Up finish in 2014 and District Final appearances in 2015, 2019, 2020 and 2021. Allerding was also named Ohio’s Division I Co-Coach of the Year in 2014 and is one of a few people chosen to both play in and coach Ohio’s North-South All-Star Game. She was also inducted into Stark County’s Amateur Basketball Association Hall of Fame in 2022.  Currently, Allerding and her husband, Brian, reside in North Canton with their eleven-year-old twin boys, Cameron and Peyton, and ten-year-old little girl, Charlotte. Brian is a veterinarian at the North Canton Veterinary Clinic. Allerding is thankful to God for the young women she coached, the opportunity to have coached with her father and brother and will always appreciate the support of the North Canton Community.
