2018 1993 Diving

Karen (Lesh) Phillips is a 1993 graduate of Hoover High School. Karen had an outstanding diving career at Hoover being named All-Ohio for all four years of High School. Lesh placed 6th in the state as freshman, 7th as a sophomore and then won back to back State Championships in 1992 and 1993. In addition to many state and local awards, Lesh was named an All-American for her performance in ‘92 & ’93. Following Hoover, Karen attended Wright State on a diving scholarship and won multiple Horizon League championships and still holds school records at WSU. Her success at Wright State led to Karen being named the 1997 Female Athlete of the Year at Wright State. She also experienced great success outside of the pool being named an Academic All-American all four years while earning her degree in Criminal Justice. Although Karen has had numerous athletic achievements, her most fulfilling achievement was returning to school and earning her RN degree at age 39. She now lives in Medina, OH and is a supervisor for a skilled nursing facility.
