2026 1985 Swimming

Trisha Schwerzler is one of the most accomplished swimmers in Hoover High School history, building a legacy of excellence that began at the North Canton YMCA and flourished during her four-year varsity career. A four-time First Team All-Federal League selection, 1985 District Swimmer of the Year, team captain, and Most Valuable Swimmer, Trisha graduated holding five individual school records and three relay records. She qualified for the YMCA National Championships all four years of high school, earned High School All-American honors in the 50 and 100 freestyle, and was an OHSAA State Championship finalist five times, highlighted by two fourth-place finishes in both the 50 and 100 freestyle. Her success also included multiple YMCA Great Lakes Regional Championships, establishing her as one of Ohio's premier high school swimmers.

Trisha continued her outstanding career at The Ohio State University, where she was a four-year varsity letterwinner, team captain, NCAA Division I Championship qualifier, Big Ten Champion, and Collegiate All-American. Her lifelong commitment to swimming has continued through Masters competition and an exceptional coaching career, where she has developed state qualifiers, district championship teams, and earned High School Coach of the Year honors. A member of the Greater Canton Aquatic Association Hall of Fame, Trisha's impact as a swimmer, coach, mentor, and ambassador for the sport continues to inspire generations of athletes. Hoover High School is proud to welcome Trisha Schwerzler into the Hoover High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
