2014 1960 Football

Tim Powell, a 1960 graduate, participated in many sports in his hometown. He was a member of North Canton Midget Football, Little League Baseball, varsity basketball and baseball, and middle school and varsity football. Tim was a member of the 1958 and 1959 All-County Football Team, earned three varsity letters in football, and played on the 1959 North/South All-Star Team.

Tim played NCAA football for Northwestern University from 1960-1963. He played both offensive guard and defensive tackle in every game. In 1962, the team was ranked number one in the country after the 5th and 6th games and during the 1965 pre-season, were voted number one.

Tim played professional football in 1964 as an offensive guard for the Canton Bulldogs. He also played defensive end and tackle with the Los Angeles Rams and the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1965-1966. Tim was a part of the famous LA Rams "Fearsome Foursome" that included NFL Pro Football HOF inductees Merlin Olsen and Deacon Jones. Tim is married to Paula Doane. They have two sons, Scott and Chris and have five grandchildren, Brooks, Catherine, Drew, Claire, and Mollie.
