Born November 7, 1958, in Canton, Dan was two-time All-Federal League choice, Dan was selected Stark County Player of the Year by WHBC as a senior in 1976.  He helped the 1975 Vikings go 10-0 and win the Federal League, particularly with his work at safety.  The next year, he put up big numbers as a receiver, helping the Vikings go 9-1 and win the league again to finish 10th in the final Associated Press state poll.  He caught 40 passes for 616 yards and eight touchdowns.  Dan’s number “25” was retired by Don Hertler Sr., after the close of the 1976 football season.   He then played both ways in the Ohio North-South All-Star Game.  Dan also ran track at Hoover and set the 120- yd. High Hurdle school record at 14.8 secs.  Dan went on to star at Bowling Green and was a team captain his senior year.  He received honorable mention All-MAC honors as a sophomore before making the second team as a junior and senior.  He also made the Academic All-MAC Team as a senior.  Dan was inducted into the Stark County Football Hall of Fame in 2012.  His wife’s name is Marsha and they have two children, Emily and Bryant and four grandchildren, ALL BOYS, Cameron, James, Hudson and Daniel, ages 1 to 9 years.  They live in Greenville, SC and he worked for Signode Corp., a packaging manufacturer, for 40 years and has since retired in June of 2023.  His current hobbies include hunting, fishing, golf and riding motorcycles.
