Mr. Sponseller who was born and raised in North Canton is a 1949 graduate of North Canton High School. Jack was a 3-sport athlete at North Canton, playing football, basketball and baseball. Sponseller lettered two years in football being named captain of the 1948 team and named honorable mention All-Stark County in 1948. In basketball, Jack was the leading scorer of the 1948-49 North Canton High team that finished as the State Semi-Finalist in Class B. His high school baseball career included earning 3 Varsity letters and pitching 2 No-hitters. Sponseller would go on to attend Mount Union where he lettered 3 times in both football and baseball. Upon graduation from Mount Union, Jack served two years in the United States Army before returning to Stark County where he joined the family business, Carl Sponseller and Sons, Inc.
