Virgil “John” Stroia – John is a Hoover High School Class of 1984 graduate. Growing up in North Canton, John attended Orchard Hill, Clearmont, Portage, Charlotte Junior High and Hoover High Schools. John lettered in four sports – Football, Basketball, Baseball and Track. He was a team captain in Football and Basketball. John was Honorable Mention All-Ohio in Football as well as first team all-county and first team all Federal League. In addition, John was a member of the National Honor Society. After graduating, John attended West Virginia University on a football scholarship. A four-year letterman, John was team captain for the 1988 undefeated Mountaineers that played for the National Championship in the Fiesta Bowl. John was Academic and Football All-American and played in the Hula Bowl. He also received the Ed “Whitey” Gwynn award for the best overall player. After graduating, John was a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers.  John received his MBA from The Ohio State University in 1991.  John is married to Elaine (Gray) Stroia (HHS ’84). He and Elaine have three children, Maria (HHS ’14), Tim (HHS ’17) and Eleanor. John has three brothers that attended Hoover – Mike (’86), Mark (’86) and Matt (’94). John is President of Hamilton Safe/Gunnebo North America. He and Elaine reside in Loveland, Ohio.
