Dick Miller lived a humble life, performing his daily tasks as Hoover High School's groundskeeper, a career that spanned nearly five decades. A lifelong resident of the City of North Canton, Ohio, he was the 2nd son of Russell and Goldie Miller, being born just fifteen minutes before midnight on New Years Ever, 1923. Both he and his older brother, Glen, served in WWII. Dick's tour of duty embarked from England in 1942 and lasted until 1945 taking him to Germany, Austria, and France, delivering mail to the front lines. He was in the Battle of the Bulge.

After the war, he was employed by the Hoover Company until 1948 when he was hired for the Stadium job for North Canton City Schools which he held for 48 years, doing custodial work at the High School during the winter months.

Dick was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and held season tickets for 35 years on the 50 yard line. He saved the programs from every game he attended. Also, a Cleveland Indians fan, he was once offered to work for the Indians ball field, but declined, stating that, "These fields are my life".

Dick had a friendly smile and is warmly remembered by his siblings, nieces and nephews. He passed away September 3rd, 2006, surrounded by family. His dedication and work ethic were remarkable.
