2026 1963 Baseball

Craig Erbland was one of the pioneers of Hoover High School baseball, setting a standard of excellence during his four-year varsity career from 1960 to 1963. A 1963 All-Ohio selection, Craig capped off his outstanding high school career by being named the Most Valuable Player of the Ohio All-Star Game, earning recognition as one of the state's premier baseball players. His skill, leadership, and dedication helped establish a strong foundation for the Hoover baseball program and inspired future generations of Vikings.

Craig continued his baseball career at Mount Union College, where he earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors three times (1964, 1965, and 1967). In 1965, he led the conference with an outstanding .457 batting average, further solidifying his reputation as one of the top collegiate players in Ohio. His accomplishments culminated with being selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 44th round of the 1967 Major League Baseball Draft. Hoover High School is proud to welcome Craig Erbland into the Hoover High School Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his exceptional baseball career and lasting contributions to the Viking tradition.
