Curt Lukens enters the Hoover Athletic Hall of Fame as one of the most dynamic and decorated multi-sport athletes of his era, a three-sport standout whose toughness, versatility, and leadership helped elevate Hoover football, basketball, and track. A three-year starter at linebacker, wide receiver, and running back, Lukens played a central role in guiding the Vikings to two Federal League championships, becoming one of the most feared defensive players in Ohio. He earned two First Team All-Ohio honors at linebacker and swept the region’s top awards as Federal League Player of the Year, Stark County Player of the Year, Northeast Ohio Player of the Year, and Ohio Division I Defensive Player of the Year. His athletic range extended beyond football—he contributed on the basketball court and still shares Hoover’s 100-meter dash record, showcasing rare speed to match his physical style of play.

Lukens’ high-school excellence earned him invitations to both the North/South All-Star Game and the prestigious Big 33 Classic, cementing his status as one of the premier football players in the state. He continued his career at The Ohio State University, where he became a two-year letter winner and contributed to three Big Ten championship teams, bringing his trademark intensity and work ethic to one of the nation’s most storied programs. His impact on Stark County football was further recognized with his induction into the Stark County Football Hall of Fame in 2017.

Today, Lukens resides in North Canton with his three children and works in medical sales. His induction into the Hoover Athletic Hall of Fame honors not only his remarkable achievements across football, basketball, and track, but the enduring legacy of excellence, leadership, and Viking pride he continues to represent.
