From Kindergarten through 12th grade, Bob attended the North Canton Public Schools. He played Midget Football, Little League Baseball and participated in Basketball at the original Community Building YMCA.

He graduated in 1958 after spending all 12 years in the North Canton Public Schools. He participated in football, basketball and baseball and won 8 varsity letters. 4 in baseball and two each in football and basketball. He was Hi-Y president all four years of high school. He received the Allen J. Schneider PTA Scholarship following his senior year. He was also a member of the Ground Observers Corp.

Following high school Bob moved on to Mount Union College where he graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He was a four year baseball letterman and named captain his senior year. He was on the Ohio Conference First Team All-Star team as a senior. Bob moved on to Massillon, Ohio and became their Athletic Trainer and coach for five years. He was the Head Baseball Coach in Massillon in 1964 and won the sectional title before losing in the District final to North Canton and Bob’s former high school baseball coach Don Hertler. In 1964 Bob won the Canton City Class A battling title.

He received a Masters degree from Kent State in 1970. He returned to his hometown in 1967 and taught in North Canton for 25 years. He founded the Fellowship Christian Athletes at Hoover. His coaching included being the Athletic Trainer for football, basketball at several levels and four years as JV baseball coach, and even coached jr. high boys’ trach for one season. His final 16 years saw his coach 7th grade boys for 4 seasons and 7th grade girls basketball tournament in Stark County. He has been inducted into the Greater Stark County Amateur Baseball Association Hall of Fame and likewise to the Greater Canton Amateur Basketball Hall of Fame.

Present hobbies include family genealogy, fishing, swimming at the YMCA and following and supporting the various Hoover High athletic and academic programs. He has also been a basketball referee over 20 years, mostly for the younger age groups.
