Dick Gross spent 36 years (1962-1998) as a math teacher, basketball coach, track coach, and football coach at Hoover High School. His tireless dedication and commitment to the North Canton City Schools is to be commended.

Coach Gross graduated from Green High School in 1958 and went to Mount Union College. Upon graduation he accepted a teaching position in another school district. On a whim he decided to tag along with a buddy who was going to North Canton for a job interview. Thankfully he changed his mind and accepted a job at Hoover High School!

He was an integral part of the overall success of the football program for many years: State Runner Up in 1984, State Semi-Finals in 1986 and 2008, and Regional Champions in 2007, 2008, and 2012. Hoover played in 17 Regional games and won 21 Federal League Championships during his tenure.

North Canton was very fortunate to have his leadership and skills for 36 years. Coach Gross is retired and lives in north Canton with his wife, Jane, who together have 3 adult children who graduated from Hoover High School.
