Coach Paul MacDonald joined the staff of North Canton City Schools in 1959 and served in multiple coaching capacities until 1966. MacDonald served as an assistant football coach and head track and field coach, while his greatest accomplishments came leading the wrestling program. Under his watch, the Hoover wrestling team won the1964 District Championship and the 1965 State Championship. From 1963-1965, MacDonald led the Vikings to 26 consecutive dual meet victories and coached State Champion Butch Paquin. In 1965 Coach MacDonald also started the North Canton Holiday Invitational which continues to this day as a premier wrestling tournament in the area. In 1996, Coach MacDonald accepted a faculty position at Adrian College where he coached and taught until 1996.
