2016 1966 Wrestling

Charles Cropley ran cross country and was an accomplished wrestler at Hoover from 1962-1966. He was a 4-year letterman in both sports and was voted captain of the wrestling team his senior year. Charles was voted the Most Valuable Wrestler by his teammates his sophomore and senior years.

He won the prestigious North Canton Holiday Wrestling tournament 3 times and a Sectional and District champion 3 times. Charles was undefeated in the regular season his junior year (27-0) and senior year (24-0). His overall career record was an astonishing 75-7 with four of those losses coming in the State Tournament over a three-year period. At the State Tournament he placed 4th his sophomore year and 3rd his junior year. Charles led two undefeated teams during his four-year career that resulted in an incredible 43-3 team record. 

He was awarded a scholarship to wrestle at Bowling Green and was undefeated his freshman year. An unfortunate run of injuries hampered the last years of his career. Charles was inducted into the Stark County Amateur Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1989. Charles lives in Corona, California and is very active in his church.
