William A. (Willie) Evans

Willie Evans played both football and lacrosse before graduating from Ithaca High School in 1979. He lettered in both sports for three consecutive years and was voted Captain in each sport his senior year. In football, during his senior campaign, Willie had a 100 yard interception return for a touchdown against Elmira.
Willie excelled in lacrosse earning All STAC honors twice ('78 and '79), Team MVP in '79 as well as being voted an All American as a senior. As a member of the IHS lacrosse team, he helped the team to both the 1978 STAC Championship and Section IV Championship. They were also Co-STAC Champions in 1979.
After graduation, Willie attended SUNY Farmingdale where he was a member of their 1981 National Championship Lacrosse Team. He is a member of the first class to be inducted in the National Black Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Willie stayed involved with athletics, as an Assistant Coach with the Cornell University Sprint Football for the past 22 years and has been a lacrosse official at every level for over 30 years.
