Dan Wood was a Southern Tier Conference all-star in soccer, basketball, and baseball. In his senior year he was captain of each of those teams, and each won the conference championship. Upon graduating in 1964, he held the record for most points scored in his basketball career (803) and on the baseball field had a .340 career batting average. He was #1 in his Ithaca High class academically, and at Tufts was Phi Beta Kappa magna cum laude, and winner of the outstanding scholar-athlete award. He coached varsity tennis and soccer teams at Cornell, including the 1972 soccer team, which advanced to the NCAA championship semifinals. Dan later became a professional golfer, playing on the Senior PGA Tour.
