Kristin Banfield-McCartney played basketball from 1980 to 1984 and softball in 1981. She set 7 basketball records in basketball including scoring (1202 points) and rebounding (716). She was a STAC and Metro Binghamton All Star in 1983 and 1984. She was named one of the top 15 players in New York.

She was the first STAC player to win a Big East Scholarship and the first I.H.S. player to win a division I scholarship, playing for Villanova, a top twenty team two of her four years. She won the Philadelphia Big Five Unsung Hero award her senior year. She played in the Empire State Games for 3 years. She is a member of the Section IV Hall of Fame.
