Frank Welch graduated from Ithaca High School in 1971 after playing both lacrosse and football. In lacrosse, he was a two-time All STAC player. In football, he played two seasons for legendary coach Joe Moresco ('03 Inductee), including the 1970 undefeated team.

Frank went on to Ithaca College, where he was a 4 year starter on the lacrosse team and Captain his Senior year.

In 1976, Frank returned to IHS as a JV Football coach. A year later he started coaching lacrosse and has been involved ever since. His teams have won 16 Sectional titles, had 6 NYS Final Four appearances, 2 NYS Final runner-ups, he has been voted Coach of the Year 5 times and is a three time Empire State Lacrosse Coach (earning 2 Gold and 1 Silver medals). To date, Frank's teams have won 341 games. And In 2014 he was inducted into the US Lacrosse Upstate NY Hall of Fame.

Frank says, "The best part of coaching Ithaca High School Lacrosse is being part of the player's development and helping over 100 students get into the college of their choice and continue their lacrosse careers."
