Brandon made the varsity wrestling team at Ithaca High School as a 7th grader where he accumulated a record of 37-7, 32-1 in 8th grade, 31-2 freshman year, 39-1 sophomore year, and undefeated junior and senior seasons going 86-0. He is a three time state champion and in 1998 helped win a team state championship.

He is a five time Section Four finalist as well as a five time Class A and S.T.A.C. champion, a 3 time Canandaigua champ, 4 time Geneva champ, a 5 time Watkins Glen champ, a 3 time Windsor champion, a member of the Dapper Dan Classic team, and the Ithaca Journal Athlete of the Year in 1998.

Brandon attended Colby Community College where he qualified for the national championships twice and was undefeated his sophomore year going on to win a national title.
