Richard Nicholas played football and wrestled for IHS. In wrestling he won 3 consecutive Section IV Championships in '48, '49, and '50. He was team captain in his senior season, and qualified for the Olympic wrestling trials held at Barton Hall in '49. He is a member of the Section IV Hall of Fame.
