Dan loved sports and he loved Ithaca High School sports best of all. A graduate of IHS, 'Boone' as he was known by everyone, returned to Ithaca and worked for the Ithaca City School District for over 40 years. Countless students feared the appearance of the 'Boone Mobile' as they either left or returned to the school campus. More bark than bite, Dan always treated every student with fairness and a smile.

It seemed Dan was everywhere — traveling with the boys' hockey team, working the scorer's table at basketball games, announcing track meets from the Press Box, working for over 30 years at Jim Boeheim's Syracuse basketball camp — to name a few. He just wanted to help in any way he could and for over four decades, he did.

Dan passed away on December 4, 2014 and IHS lost one of its greatest athletic boosters ever. We know Boone is still watching and cheering on Little Red athletes to do their very best.
